HELLO!
My name is Martina Skvaro, and I'm a qualified industrial designer (BSC of Arts ZFH in Product and Industrial Design), as well as a qualified design engineer. Hence my love for the symbiosis of design and engineering. I work as a Product Designer & Design Engineer at RADIATE in the Bike Division, and in my free time, I occasionally create a new home accessory, which you'll find here sooner or later.
Every project requires a new design process, and so every new product is a new adventure. I find it most rewarding when the design emerges during the process, without having a precise idea beforehand. When I embrace the design process and let go of pre-established ideas, the most beautiful projects emerge.
ABOUT the Design Studio
äm | äs | ka Design Studio is the name of Martina Skvaro's design studio. My first and last names are M.SK. Spelled in Swiss German, this spells the studio name
äm | äs | ka .
I enjoy incorporating new technologies into my projects so that the products become a visual and tactile surprise. My aim is to ensure the longevity of my products and their lasting enjoyment. Ideally, my lovingly crafted products are never thrown away, but given away or sold. Of course, this also includes caring for the product so that it can enrich your everyday life for as long as possible ;)
PHILOSOPHY
My products are designed in Winterthur | Zurich and up to 90% of all products are made in Switzerland. It is important to me to keep CO2 emissions low and I am constantly striving to improve supply chains and manufacturing processes. The closer the production, the better. Nevertheless, it is important to me that the quality is right and the products are durable. To achieve this, I take a lot of time to get in touch with different manufacturers and find the perfect industrial partner for each individual product. All elements of my products are dismantled so that I can separate the different materials before disposal (hopefully never). The pleasure of using these products should last a long time. So think carefully about whether you want to buy my product. You won't find trendy designs here, but sustainable designer pieces, mostly made entirely in Switzerland. Support your local artists!
