HELLO!
My name is Martina Skvaro, and I'm a qualified industrial designer (BSC of Arts ZFH in Product and Industrial Design), as well as a qualified design engineer. Hence my love for the symbiosis of design and engineering. I work as a Product Designer & Design Engineer at RADIATE in the Bike Division, and in my free time, I occasionally create a new home accessory, which you'll find here sooner or later.
Every project requires a new design process, and so every new product is a new adventure. I find it most rewarding when the design emerges during the process, without having a precise idea beforehand. When I embrace the design process and let go of pre-established ideas, the most beautiful projects emerge.
ABOUT the Design Studio
äm | äs | ka Design Studio is the name of Martina Skvaro's design studio. The initials of my first and last name are M.SK. Spelled out in Swiss German, this gives the studio name äm | äs | ka .
My aim is for the longevity of the products and lasting enjoyment from them. Ideally, my lovingly crafted pieces will never be thrown away, but rather given away or resold. Of course, this also means that you take good care of them so that the product can continue to brighten your everyday life for years to come. ;)
PHILOSOPHY
My products are designed in Winterthur, Zurich, and 90% manufactured in Switzerland. I do NOT use AI tools. Keeping CO2 emissions low is important to me, and I constantly strive to improve supply chains and manufacturing processes. The closer the production location, the better. Nevertheless, quality and durability are paramount. I dedicate significant time to contacting various manufacturers and finding the ideal industrial partner to meet my requirements. All components of my products are designed to be disassembled, allowing for the separation of different materials before disposal (hopefully never necessary). I want my products to bring lasting enjoyment. Therefore, please consider carefully whether you wish to purchase my product. Here you won't find fleeting trends, but rather sustainable design pieces, most of which are entirely made in Switzerland. Support your local artists!
